The 1843 Durant-Peterson House, located at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, is a brick farmstead built in a simple Greek Revival style. The house has been restored as a living history museum representing the lifestyle and the furnishings of the 1840's. A frame addition contains a kitchen and bathroom furnished to represent the Victorian era. As costumed guides, Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley, a volunteer organization, welcomes the public throughout the year:
