Arrowwood Point Archery complex

Join us for the Grand Opening of Arrowwood Point Archery Complex on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11 a.m.!

A NOTE ON THE WEATHER: Our event is a go, rain or shine. We will have a staff member watching for severe weather. Should that happen, we'll provide instructions on site.

There will be a ribbon cutting and welcome remarks, live archery demo by Kane County 4-H Program, Try Archery stations on the Traditional Range with certified Forest Preserve District staff, safety information and gear to borrow. This family-friendly event is free. Participants (and parents of minor children) must sign a waiver in order to participate in the Try Archery component.

Commemorative patches are available to the first 150 attendees, while supplies last.

The Elevated Range and the Crossbow Range are not available to use during the Grand Opening celebration.

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County's public archery range, Arrowwood Point Archery Complex, at Mill Creek Greenway Forest Preserve offers dedicated spaces for recreational archery, bow-hunter practice, and crossbow use. Located at 02N253 Brundige Rd., Elburn, IL 60119, the range is designed to provide opportunities for educational, recreational and competitive archery activities in a safe, designated setting.

Archery is only allowed within the posted range areas. Permits are required and must be displayed while using the range. Annual permits are valid June 6, 2026 through June 30, 2027 for the 2026/27 season, and July 1-June 30 annually thereafter. Permits must be reapplied for each year. Permits purchased after Dec. 31 will be offered at a discounted rate. Daily permits are available. The District provides targets, quivers, and racks; archers must bring their own bows and arrows. The range includes an ADA-accessible shooting lane within the crossbow range.

Range Types

Arrowwood Point Archery Complex includes three designated range areas:

Elevated Bow Range

Designed for bow-hunter practice, this range is approximately 60 yards long and includes four (4) shooting lanes. Target distances vary from approximately 20-50 yards.

traditional Range

This range is approximately 100 yards long and includes 13 shooting lanes for recreational and target archery. Target distances vary from approximately 20-90 yards.

Crossbow Range

This designated, separate range is approximately 100 yards long, includes five (5) lanes, and is intended for crossbow use only. Lane 1 is an ADA-accessible lane. You are not required to use a crossbow on the accessible lane. Target distances vary from approximately 20-50 yards.


Permit Information

Permit fees support the ongoing maintenance, operation and safety improvements of the archery range. Permits are nonrefundable and nontransferable. A $5 replacement fee applies to lost or stolen permits. The permit year runs from July through June. Annual permits are required for ages 16 and up.

Key Rules

Valid permits are required and must be displayed while using the range.
One shooter is permitted per lane at a time.
Always check that the range is clear before shooting.
Never shoot across lanes.
Keep arrows in a quiver until ready to shoot.
Only target arrows with field points are allowed. Broadheads or razor-tipped arrows are prohibited.
Children under 16 must be supervised by a permitted adult age 18 or older.
Crossbows are only allowed at the designated crossbow range.
Do not move or alter Forest Preserve District of Kane County targets.
Alcohol and impairing substances are prohibited.
